‘The Lord of the Rings’ Goes Animated In New ‘War of the Rohirrim’ Images
Long before Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy, J.R.R. Tolkien’s work made its way to the screen in animated form, first in 1977’s The Hobbit and then in 1978’s The Lord of the Rings and 1980’s The Return of the King. So in a sense the new Lord of the Rings movie, The War of the Rohirrim, is a return to the franchise’s roots, at least onscreen. Directed by Kenji Kamiyama, the movie serves as a prequel to the Jackson trilogy. (He is also involved in the film as an executive producer.)
