Luxury giant Mulberry has dispensed with the services of chief executive officer (CEO) Thierry Andretta because of falling sales and a sharp deteriorating in its share price. Andretta is to be replaced by Andreas Baldo, previously chief executive of Ganni, a mid-range luxury brand. He has also worked at Coccinelle and Marni Group. Andretta had been with Mulberry since 2015, having previously worked at rival brands LVMH and Kering. Since its establishment in 1971, Mulberry has been a staple on the British high street, including celebrity names such as Cara Delavigne, Kate Moss, Lana Del Ray and...

Chief executives of major US companies saw their pay leap nearly 13% last year, soaring way ahead of their workers, according to data analysed on behalf of AP news agency. That was considerably higher than amounts earned by workers who are feeling the strain on their budgets because of inflation. The average pay packet for CEOs rose to $16.3 million (€15 million), up 12.6%, according to the Equilar data. Meanwhile, wages and benefits awarded to private-sector workers rose a much more modest 4.1% over the same period. That means an employer would need to work around 200 years to earn the same a...

Washington (AFP) - Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg gave a public apology in US Congress on Wednesday as hostile lawmakers grilled tech chiefs over the dangers that children face on social media platforms. The executives convened by the US Senate Judiciary Committee were put to task in a session titled "Big Tech and the Online Child Sexual Exploitation Crisis." Tech giants are confronting a torrent of political anger for not doing enough to thwart online dangers for children, including from sexual predators and teen suicide. During one round of heated questioning, Zuckerberg was made to stand up and a...

Paris (AFP) - In a dramatic twist worthy of a "Star Wars" spin-off, Disney ditched CEO Bob Chapek and brought back Bob Iger, Hollywood's most respected executive, who faces a huge challenge to revive the Magic Kingdom. Iger's return comes as Disney is trying to negotiate an uncertain era, where investors have lost faith in some of the most storied names in US media as companies bleed cash in the hunt for customers to streaming platforms. Disney's board of directors rehired Iger for a two-year contract that will add to the 15 years he ruled over the company until 2020, when he handed the reins ...
