One method of making electricity cleanly to address climate change has been quietly advancing and on Tuesday it hit a milestone. A California utility is backing the largest new geothermal power development in the US - 400 megawatts of clean electricity from the Earth’s heat - enough for some 400,000 homes. Flights from Manchester Airport in the north of England were cancelled on Sunday due to a major power cut which affected Terminals 1 and 2. Footage posted on X showed long queues, dimly-lit corridors, and congested baggage collection areas. Airport officials on Monday said all systems were running as normal but warned there could be delays and urged travellers to check their flight status before leaving for the airport.
