Jeder vierte Mobilfunkvertrag in Westeuropa enthält inzwischen die Möglichkeit, das schnellere 5G-Netz nutzen zu können. Mit einer Marktdurchdringung von 26 Prozent liegen die westeuropäischen Mobilfunkprovider nach einer Analyse des Mobilfunkausrüsters Ericsson im internationalen Vergleich nur auf dem vierten Platz. In Führung liegt Nordamerika (59 Prozent) vor Nordostasien (41 Prozent) und der Region des Golfkooperationsrates (34 Prozent).
