Florida State golfer Luke Clanton made the most of his sponsor exemption this week at the John Deere Classic. He managed to fire 24-under par for the weekend, finishing in a three-way tie for second place. And the amateur put himself in rarified air with the unreal heater he’s been on in his past two starts on the PGA Tour. Clanton, in just his third start on the PGA Tour, became the first amateur with back-to-back Top 10 finishes since Billy Patton did it in 1958. Simply incredible stuff from the FSU star. Clanton’s remarkable accomplishment is just another firm reminder of just how insanely ...

When evaluating DJ Uiagalelei as a potential transfer target in the offseason, head coach Mike Norvell didn’t take long to get sold on what the quarterback could bring to his Florida State program. Speaking with ESPN college football analyst Greg McElroy earlier in the summer, Norvell expressed his belief that Uiagalelei brings the array of physical traits, quarterbacking abilities and college football experiences that have forged him into the type of signal caller he wants. And if it all goes to plan, the type of quarterback to succeed Jordan Travis and have the Seminoles right back in the Co...

Florida State quarterback DJ Uiagalelei has experienced mixed results during his college career thus far. Uiagalelei spent three seasons at Clemson, before transferring to Oregon State ahead of the 2023 season. He then transferred to Florida State this offseason where he is slated to be the starting quarterback for Mike Norvell and the Seminoles in 2024. On3’s Andy Staples recently joined Kelly Gramlich and Eric Mac Lain to discuss how DJ Uiagalelei fits in at Florida State and what to expect from him with the Seminoles. “I like it,” Staples said. “Remember, they were going to have Cam Ward an...

There’s no doubt that Florida State lost a ton of talent off of last year’s roster. Quarterback Jordan Travis, receiver Keon Coleman and defensive linemen Jared Verse and Braden Fiske are all off to the NFL. Still, On3’s Andy Staples has high expectations for Florida State entering the 2024 season. Staples recently joined Kelly Gramlich and Eric Mac Lain and shared how this year’s roster will be much different, but not necessarily lacking in talent. “What I’m fascinated by this year is, so you lose Jordan Travis, which I don’t think people appreciate how consistent, steady a hand on the wheel ...

There’s nothing like the anxiety of replacing a legend. Rams great Aaron Donald retired this offseason. And Los Angeles then used a second-round pick Braden Fiske, possibly the future star at defensive tackle. No pressure, right? Donald was only a three-time winner of the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year who made the Pro Bowl in each of his 10 seasons with the Rams. “Big shoes to fill – we’re talking about the greatest ever,” Fiske said in a recent interview with Forbes. “I’ve said it countless times – it’s the G.O.A.T. I full-heartedly feel that way about him and we’ve had small conversatio...

Throughout most of the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s, at least one team from the state of Florida was in contention to win the college football national title. Miami, Florida and Florida State combined for 10 national titles during those three decades, and they were in the running for several more. All three programs have fallen off in recent years, though. Miami hasn’t won more than eight games in a season since 2017, while the Gators haven’t surpassed the eight-win mark since 2019. FSU did win 13 games last season in an impressive year for Mike Norvell, but FSU also had four straight losing seasons...

After finishing just outside the top 10 in the 2024 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings, Mike Norvell and Florida State are once again gunning for an elite recruiting class, this time in the 2025 cycle. The Seminoles are picking up some steam on the recruiting trail after a slow start in the spring. FSU currently checks in with the No. 9 class in the nation — which is also good for the No. 1 class in the state of Florida and the No. 2 class in the ACC. Ten prospects are now committed to Norvell and his staff — all of whom are blue-chip (four and five-star) recruits. Florida State Class Break...
