The Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (IOC) is warning with 100 per cent certainty that a tsunami measuring over one metre will hit the Mediterranean in the next 30 years. Spanish newspaper La Razon reports that the danger zone is the Averroes fault beneath the Alboran Sea - roughly halfway between the Málaga coast and north Africa. Parts of Southern Germany are under flood warning, with the highest levels applying to western Swabia, the Upper Allgäu and Upper Bavaria. A state of emergency has been declared in Augsburgdue to the extreme rainfall and rising water levels. Water levels are expected to continue to rise sharply in the coming hours. The communities of Fischach and Langenneufnach will be particularly affected. The Lake Constance region has also been affected and is under risk of flooding. Heavy rains have caused catastrophic flooding in southern Brazil killing at least 100 people and leaving thousands more homeless. The southern state of Rio Grande do Sul was hit by heavy rain last week and subsequent flooding has washed away roads, collapsed bridges and caused landslides across the state. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) struggled to recover from intense storms on Thursday, which saw the heaviest-ever rainfall lash the desert nation. The UAE's main airport worked to restore normal operations even as floodwater still covered portions of major highways and roads.
