The Los Angeles Sparks revealed Wednesday that rookie Cameron Brink suffered a torn ACL on Tuesday against the Connecticut Sun. No further information regarding a timetable for her return was given, though she will presumably be sidelined for a significant amount of time. Brink suffered the injury in the first quarter as she was driving to the basket and her knee appeared to buckle. Regan Smith made history on Tuesday at the Olympic Swim Trials in Indianapolis, setting a new world record in the 100-meter backstroke. The former Stanford swimmer finished with a time of 57.13 seconds, surpassing the previous record of 57.33 seconds held by Australian swimmer Kaylee McKeown. Los Angeles Sparks rookie Cameron Brink had to be carried off the court after suffering an apparent foot injury on Tuesday vs. the Connecticut Sun. Brink was driving to the basket when Sun forward Brionna Jones stepped on her foot causing Brink to fall to the ground. Hayden Hidlay, a former NC State standout, was hired by Stanford wrestling as an assistant coach, according to a release from the program. Former Northwestern national champion Ryan Deakin was previously in the role under head coach Chris Ayres. But, Deakin stepped down to pursue other opportunities outside of coaching, paving way for Hidlay. This comes after it was previously reported that she was going to make the decision. Canady was the 2024 USA Softball Player of the Year and led Stanford to the Women’s College World Series.
