UEFA investigates Turkey's Merih Demiral for ultra-nationalist salute during goal celebration
UEFA has opened an investigation into Turkish football player Merih Demiral after he celebrated a goal at Euro 2024 on Tuesday night with a hand gesture commonly associated with an ultra-nationalist group. Demiral, who is being investigated for "alleged inappropriate behaviour", scored both goals in a dramatic 2-1 win over Austria to earn a place in the quarterfinals.
