Often just called by its date, the Fourth of July is a federal holiday across the US that commemorates the day in 1776 that the founding fathers ratified the Declaration of Independence from the UK, then ruled by King George III. In the US, the Fourth of July will be spent outside, eating copiously, drinking weak beer, watching fireworks explode and… shooting guns? We’re not really sure, this is a European publication. The debate sparked a series of questions over whether 81-year-old Biden was mentally able to compete for re-election against Trump. “I am running. I am the leader of the Democratic Party. This week, the president proposed a new rule to address excessive heat in the workplace, while tens of millions of people in the US suffer under heat advisories. If the measure is finalised, it would protect an estimated 36 million workers across the country from injuries related to heat exposure on the job and would be the first major federal safety standard of its kind. Currently, those most affected by excessive heat in the workplace include farmworkers, delivery and...

Former US President Donald Trump has been granted some immunity from prosecution, according to the US Supreme Court who have delayed a decision being made on Trump's convictions. The Supreme Court ruled that former presidents are entitled to immunity from prosecution for official acts taken when in office, but do not have immunity for unofficial acts. The decision will throw the case back to a lower court which will conclude how to apply the ruling and ultimately delay the trial, potentially past November's upcoming presidential election. Trump is currently charged in a federal election interf...

US President Joe Biden has made a forceful bid to quell anxieties over his unsteady showing in his debate with former President Donald Trump. Biden's halting delivery and meandering comments, particularly early in the debate, have fuelled concerns among members of his own party that at 81 he's not up for the task of leading the country for another four years. "I know I'm not a young man. State the obvious," he told supporters at a rally in North Carolina. "I don't walk as easily as I used to. I don't speak as smoothly as I used to. I don't debate as well as I used to. But I know what I do know...

It was regarded as an arms control landmark when Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev and US President Ronald Reagan signed it in 1988. But America withdrew from the pact in 2019, citing Russian violations. "We need to start production of these strike systems and then, based ...
