White wine remained the most popular of wines produced in Germany in 2023, followed by red and rosé, according to figures by the German Wine Institute (DWI). As in the previous year, white wine accounted for two thirds of the total. The proportion of quality-attested red wines remained stable at a good fifth (21%) and rosé remained unchanged at 13%, according to DWI spokesman Ernst Büscher. Spanish police have arrested a woman in connection with the pouring away of 60,000 litres of quality wines to a value of some €2.5 million ($2.7 million), national public broadcaster RTVE and other media reported on Friday.
