TalkSPORT pundit claims £50m Man City star is the best his country ‘has ever produced’

Manchester City have a significant number of top-level international players in their squad.

In fact, the Blues have had more players selected to appear in the 2024 European Championship (14) than any other club in the Premier League.

With Pep Guardiola’s side having won four league titles in a row and the Champions League back in 2023, it comes as no surprise that so many of their players are in action for their countries this summer.

Now that the tournament in Germany is approaching the knockout stage, one of City’s most prominent international stars has found himself on the end of possibly the highest praise any player that represents their country could get.

Jason Cundy hails Kyle Walker as England’s best-ever right-back

During a watch-along of England’s recent 0-0 draw against Slovenia live-streamed on the talkSPORT YouTube channel, Cundy had this to say when asked by Jamie O’Hara how good Kyle Walker is.

He said: “He is the best right-back this country has ever produced.”

Walker is a key figure for City and England

At the age of 34, the defender has racked up 86 senior caps for England, the latest of which being in the recent 0-0 draw against Slovenia.

In terms of his club career, Walker has made 612 senior appearances in total, 301 of which have come in a City shirt since arriving at the Etihad Stadium from Tottenham Hotspur back in 2017 for £50m.

This isn’t the first time the City captain has been hailed as one of the best players in his position, as Ashley Young claimed back in May that he considers Walker to be one of the best full-backs in Premier League history.

Having also been hailed by Guardiola to TNT Sports last summer for the physical attributes he has which make him a unique player according to the City boss, it’s undeniable that the veteran defender has been and is a key figure for his club and country.
