Jason Aldean Reveals He Had To Be Talked Into Releasing His Biggest Hit Ever (Exclusive Interview)

Jason Aldean

With almost 30 No. 1 country songs under his belt, Jason Aldean is arguably one of the biggest country music stars of our generation.

However, one of those No. 1 songs, almost didn’t see the light of day.

Jason Aldean Had to be Talked Into Releasing His Biggest Hit Song

In an exclusive interview on Taste of Country Nights with Evan Paul, the “Let Your Boys Be Country” hitmaker took off the gloves and showed us under the hood a little.

When asked if there was one Jason Aldean hit song that he at first thought it wasn’t going to be a hit at all, Aldean started answering the question before I was even done asking it.

His answer: An emphatic, “Big Green Tractor.”

Aldean continued explaining, “I mean I thought the song was cool, ya know, and I cut it. And I was like, ‘yeah, this is cool.’ But I never…to this day, that’s my longest, that song was No. 1 for four weeks, and I’ve never had another song stay for four weeks.”

Who Decided to Talk Aldean Into Releasing “Big Green Tractor” as a Single?

Aldean spilled the tea, “Michael Knox, my producer, was the one that sort of talked me into it. He was like, ‘I’m telling ya man, there’s something about this song.'”

But, the “Big Green Tractor” singer continued to explain his dilemma with the song at the time. “I just don’t typically put out songs that are a little tongue and cheek lyric that are, ya know, talking about a tractor, like, it’s just not…it was like, ya know, that was the song? But once the album came out, people were kind of gravitating towards and stuff, and I’m like, ‘really?! That one?'”

Hard to imagine a world without “Big Green Tractor” playing on radio stations across America.

In fact, I’ve had other artists tell me that they, along with other artists and bands, all fought for that particular song, but Aldean was the one who got to record it.
