Aaron Holiday appears to have found a home after venturing around over six seasons in the NBA.
Per Shams Charania, Holiday intends to re-sign with the Houston Rockets on a two-year deal worth $10 million. It will give him a pair of seasons with the franchise after spending his first one there last year.
Holiday previously played for the Indiana Pacers, Washington Wizards, Phoenix Suns, and Atlanta Hawks over his first five years in the association. He then signed a deal with Houston during free agency last offseason. That’s now where he looks to be staying after a decent year there off their bench.
Over his career in the league, Holiday has averaged 6.6 points and 2.1 assists on 38% shooting from three. That includes his past season with the Rockets where he posted 6.6 points and 1.8 assists on 38.7% from distance.
Holiday reached the pros after three seasons in college at UCLA. In 101 games as a Bruin, he put up 14.3 points, 4.7 assists, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.2 steals on a 42.2% clip from deep. As a junior, he was an All Pac-12 Selection and a Pac-12 All-Defense Honoree. His resumé after that season also earned him the chance to be a first round selection as the No. 23 pick of the 2018 NBA Draft by the Pacers.
Holiday comes from a basketball family as both of his brothers also have experience in the NBA. Jrue Holiday, the most notable of the trio, two-time All-Star and NBA Champion as well as a six-time All-Defensive Selection through 15 seasons with four franchises. Justin Holiday, who also has a championship, has played for 10 teams over 11 years. Justin and Aaron actually crossed paths for a pair of seasons in Indy and a year in the ATL. All three played for Campbell Hall High School before Aaron and Jrue went to UCLA for college while Justin went to Washington.
Holiday has already made several stops around the league in just six seasons. However, it seems that he has found a role with a team with him reportedly staying in H-Town.
Report: Kevin Love finalizing two-year, $8 million deal to return to Miami
Kevin Love will reportedly be staying put for his 17th and 18th seasons in the NBA.
Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, Love and the Miami Heat are finalizing a two-year contract worth $8 million or so for him to remain in South Beach.
This came together after Love declined his $4 million player option on Saturday.
“ESPN Sources: Miami Heat F/C Kevin Love is declining his $4M player option, but both sides are enthusiastic about negotiating a new deal in the opening days of free agency,” Adrian Wojnarowski wrote on Twitter.
Love has spent the last season and a half with Miami after a trade from Cleveland. He spent around eight seasons with the Cavaliers after starting his professional career with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Over that decade and a half-plus in the association, Love has averaged 16.5 points and 10.1 rebounds. During his 76 appearances with the Heat, Love has posted 8.5 points and six rebounds.
Love has transitioned into being a respected veteran at this point of his career. That’s especially so for him within an esteemed organization like the Heat. They’ll now be bringing him back to Miami to spend two more of his final seasons in the league there.
