Airbus receives $24bn order from Philippines airline

Airbus has landed a major aircraft order from the Philippines, the client carrier Cebu Pacific (CEB) said on Tuesday.

CEB signed a binding letter of intent for the purchase of up to 152 single-aisle A321neo airliners at a list price of $24 billion, according to a press release.

This includes firm orders for up to 102 A321neo aircraft and 50 purchase rights for the A320neo family.

Fleet growth can be adapted to market conditions, as it is possible to switch between the two aircraft models, said CEB's chief executive Michael Szucs.

The purchase agreement is expected to be finalized in the third quarter of the year. Aircraft manufacturers often grant significant discounts on the list price for larger orders.
