Report: How Manchester City currently feel about Ederson’s future amid Saudi Arabia transfer links

Ederson’s future at Manchester City has been in question over the past few weeks.

Since helping the Manchester club become the first side to win four Premier League trophies in a row, reports have emerged claiming that sources close to the Brazilian have been expecting him to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer.

In fact, it was reported by the Daily Mail that Saudi Pro League side, Al Ittihad, are interested in signing the City shot-stopper.

Now – however – some behind-the-scenes details have come to light regarding what the current feeling is at City about Ederson and his future.

How Man City feel about Ederson’s future

A recent report from The Athletic had this to say on the situation.

It said: “Sources in Saudi Arabia had been expecting Ederson to move to the Middle East when consulted at the end of last season, but at the moment, sources at City, kept anonymous to protect relationships, do not seem especially alarmed about his situation.”

Ederson would be a big loss for City if he decides to leave

City paid £35m to sign the 30-year-old from Benfica back in 2017. Since then, the goalkeeper has gone on to make 332 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side in all competitions.

Across those games, Ederson has kept 155 clean sheets and won a plethora of domestic and European trophies that he has played a key role in seeing the club win.

Described by Nedum Onuoha back in May as being a “huge” player for City, it’s undeniable that Ederson is a key figure for the team and would be a big blow for them, in our view, if he were to decide he wants to leave this summer.

Now that it has been reported that City don’t currently feel any pressure regarding the goalkeeper’s future, everyone at the club should be hoping that this stays the same until the summer transfer window closes.
