Kentucky baseball just lost a big piece of their 2024 College World Series team as centerfielder Nolan McCarthy has entered the transfer portal, according to D1Baseball’s Kendall Rogers.

Here was Rogers’ tweet containing that news on Tuesday afternoon:

“TRANSFER UPDATE: @UKBaseball OF Nolan McCarthy has entered the Transfer Portal, I’m told. McCarthy, 6-0, 200, hit .288 with 8 homers and 41 RBIs this past season.”

McCarthy came up huge in the postseason for the Wildcats, hitting a home run in the Wildcats’ only victory in Omaha vs. NC State, while he was also responsible for the game-winning run in the second Super Regional game vs. Oregon State to send the ‘Cats through to the CWS for the very first time.

Now, he’s in the portal and will evaluate options ahead of 2025.
