Texas was in this race late, and USC is a local school that stayed on his list, but in the end, Michigan and Texas A&M were battling it out for four-star EDGE Marco Jones. It came down to the final hours, but the Danville (Calif.) San Ramon Valley product committed to Mike Elko and the Aggies.
“I picked A&M because I felt the plan that coach Elko, Coach Sean Spencer and Coach Tony Jerod-Eddie had for me was the best,” Jones told On3. “I also wanted to experience a different part of the country, and It’s been a dream to play in the SEC. Texas A&M checked those boxes.”
Elko took Duke to nine wins in 2022 and eight wins in 2023 before heading back to College Station as the head coach. The No. 151 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking is ready to help Elko to do big things in the SEC.
“I want to be a part of building a championship from the ground up. What’s better than helping build a championship culture? I want to help the Aggies win a natty.”
Jones is a two-sport star. The talented athlete who is part of the California Power program plans to play both football and baseball in College Station.

Marco Jones first came on our radar a few years back as a very productive underclassman linebacker. Since that time, Jones has added good mass and developed into more of an EDGE prospect, checking in at around 6-foot-4, 245 pounds. He’s a rangy, active defender and shows strong instincts in playing the run. We also see him make plays on offense as a pass-catcher. I’m interested to see how Jones looks as a senior, especially if he plays more as a pass rusher, but he’s an interesting prospect who has been a productive player on Friday nights.

Someone that originally was playing a lot of off-ball linebacker, but recently made the switch last season to a primary pass rusher and it’s paid off in a big way. He’s always had the frame and movement skills to play off the edge. He’s 6-foot-4+, 245 pounds with quality length and as he’s added mass he’s maintained his burst and explosiveness. He’ll continue to develop his hand usage and skillset as a rusher with more reps at the position, but the physical and athletic ability is there to make an early impact at the next level.
