The Golden State Warriors have hired Jerry Stackhouse and Terry Stotts as assistant coaches, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Tuesday. Stotts will reportedly be the lead assistant coach on the staff under head coach Steve Kerr.
Stackhouse comes to the Warriors after spending the past five seasons as the head coach at Vanderbilt. He was named the SEC Coach of the Year in 2022-23 after leading the Commodores to a 22-15 record.
Overall, Stackhouse went 70-92 across his tenure as the Vanderbilt coach. He was fired after posting a 9-23 record this past season.
Stotts brings several years of head coaching experience with him to Golden State, most recently as the head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers from 2012-21. He took the team to eight straight playoffs appearances from 2014-21, including the Western Conference Finals in 2019.
Stotts was most recently an assistant coach with the Milwaukee Bucks this past season. He also was a former head coach with the Atlanta Hawks from 2002-04.
The Warriors are coming off of a 46-36 season and lost in a play-in game to the Sacramento Kings. They underwent several changes this offseason, including letting go of Klay Thompson, who won four NBA Finals with them.
Now the Warriors will hope the additions of Jerry Stackhouse and Terry Stotts can boost their coaching staff as they look to make another run at the playoffs.
Santiago Vescovi joins Warriors in NBA Summer League
Santiago Vescovi is the third former Volunteer to get his shot with a team in the NBA.
The Golden State Warriors released their roster for the NBA Summer League on Sunday. Amongst the 17-man team was Vescovi as he will play with the Dubs in the California Classic in Sacramento and San Francisco as well as the NBA2K25 Summer League in Las Vegas throughout July.
Vescovi joins Dalton Knecht and Josiah-Jordan James in making it to the pros over this week. Knecht was the most notable of the trio as he was the No. 17 pick during the 2024 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers, which has already been labeled as one of the more significant selections. As for James, he reportedly signed with the Indiana Pacers on an Exhibit-10 deal on Friday.
Vescovi played for Tennessee for five seasons. In that time on Rocky Top, he set a program record for starts with 128, which he did over the course of 149 appearances that are second-most all time behind John Fulkeron and Allan Houston. He averaged 10.3 points, four rebounds, three assists, and 1.4 steals in that collegiate career in Knoxville.
