Rocco Vata’s Celtic exit 'close' with medical scheduled in England

Just like the Celtic goalkeeping situation, the Rocco Vata story is one that has turned into a long-running saga for the Parkhead support.

The 19-year-old attacker has been the subject of intense speculation for months after he entered the final year of his contract at the end of last season.

Regarded as one of the best prospects to come out of the Celtic academy, Vata has stalled on signing a new deal with the Bhoys as he looked at other options open to him.

It seems now that Vata has made his choice after Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph posted an update on the Celtic youngster’s situation this morning on social media.

Rocco Vata’s Watford medical

We discussed just two days ago how young Vata had visited the English Championship side as he looked to participate in advanced discussions about a possible move.

And this morning in an update on X, Joseph said that Vata is set to take a medical at the club today:

Since then he has starred in the Celtic B team and has also been capped at U21 level with the Republic of Ireland.

Tipped by Player Pathway Manager, Darren O’Dea, to ‘make it to the top‘, Vata has struggled to make the breakthrough into the Celtic first-team despite being in superb goalscoring form in the Lowland League.

With reports linking the likes of Lazio and Club Brugge, it seems that Vata has opted to try his luck down south despite Celtic offering him a new deal back in March.

As Celtic prepares to lose yet another top talent to English football, the fans will be hoping that the appointment of O’Dea into his new role will be a catalyst for future prospects to get their break in the Celtic fist team to avoid this scenario happening again.
