'So excited...': Sheffield Wednesday signing Olaf Kobacki sends message to Owls fans after sealing move

Sheffield Wednesday new boy Olaf Kobacki has sent a message to fans after sealing his move from Arka.

Sheffield Wednesday announced their sixth signing of the summer transfer window on Wednesday, and their sixth permanent signing of the summer as well.

The Owls have snapped up Polish attacker Olaf Kobacki on a four-year contract after he starred for Arka in the Polish second tier last season, scoring 15 goals in the league as Arka narrowly missed out on promotion.

Sheffield Wednesday have beaten the likes of Derby County and Norwich City to the signing of 22-year-old Kobacki, who was previously on the books at Italian outfit Atalanta.

Kobacki joins all of Ben Hamer, Max Lowe, Yan Valery, Svante Ingelsson, and Jamal Lowe in moving to Hillsborough this summer, in what is proving to be a very positive summer so far for Danny Rohl’s side.

Next, Sheffield Wednesday are expected to sign Charlie McNeill after his Manchester United release, with goalkeeper Jame Beadle tipped to return on loan from Brighton.

Olaf Kobacki sends message to Sheffield Wednesday fans

Shortly after Kobacki was announced by Sheffield Wednesday, the youngster took to Instagram with a message for his new supporters.

Sheffield Wednesday fans seem very impressed with the arrival of an exciting young attacker in Kobacki, despite him being a very unknown quantity, and fans are equally impressed by the cub’s summer business so far.

Kobacki posted this message on Instagram:

Sheffield Wednesday fans must be cautious of one thing

Right now, Sheffield Wednesday are in a good place. The club has changed their philosophy in the transfer market and Dejphon Chansiri is making improvements to the facilities and whatnot, laying some proper foundations for a brighter future.

After Rohl’s impressive turnaround last season, followed by the influx of new signings, it’s difficult not to get carried away when thinking about Sheffield Wednesday’s fortunes in the Championship next season.

But fans must proceed with cautious optimism. It’ll take time for this new-look side to bed in under Rohl and play the way that he wants them to play next season.

And for players like Kobacki and Ingelsson, it’ll take time to adjust to the Championship and the rigours of English football, so patience must be taken with both of those two as well.

But so far, Sheffield Wednesday are making waves in the summer transfer window, having signed more players than any other team in the Championship so far this summer.

The Owls kick off the 2024/25 Championship campaign with a home game vs Plymouth Argyle on August 11th.
