‘He wants to go’: £100k-a-week Everton player is expected to leave this summer for Premier League rival - journalist

This was expected to be a summer marred by exits for Everton, yet against all the odds, they have flipped that narrative.

Now, Sean Dyche and Kevin Thelwell are spearheading numerous transfer ventures, having already welcomed three first-team signings already.

However, it feels like eventually this bubble must burst, and a major exit could well be right around the corner.

With Manchester United still interested in Jarrad Branthwaite, and Amadou Onana free to leave Everton after Belgium’s Euro 2024 exit, many might assume this duo is the most likely to depart.

One renowned journalist has now suggested another name though…

Graeme Bailey provides Dominic Calvert-Lewin update

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s future completely up in the air, all Evertonians want to know is why and if he is going to depart this summer.

After all, with an expiring contract and a few teams interested, it is impossible to predict.

So, we at Everton.News spoke exclusively to journalist Graeme Bailey to get the lowdown, and he claimed: ‘They’re [Everton] not getting that deal [Calvert-Lewin’s contract] done. He’s turned down a contract as it stands. He wants to go to Newcastle United. That one has got legs in it as well.

‘Calvert-Lewin is one player, if he’s still with Everton after August I think they’ll look at a deal again. See where they are.

‘I think the club are open to him leaving but it depends who wants him. There’s not an awful lot of teams pursuing him.

‘I think still he probably will end up at Newcastle United. That’s my personal belief.’

It would be a shame for Everton to lose Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Having seen his proposed move to Newcastle United fall apart, it did seem like Calvert-Lewin would be destined to remain at Goodison Park.

And after all he has given to the club, and what they have given him, it makes sense.

To leave in such an unceremonious way, winding down a contract after the Toffees have stuck with him through such injury turmoil, would be a real shame.

Especially when he is so close to making history, just 15 goals away from surpassing Romelu Lukaku as the club’s all-time leading Premier League scorer, and has scored some truly monumental goals across his eight years on Merseyside.

Losing him alone would be a blow, but getting little to no money would be an even greater disaster.

Kevin Thelwell has a decision to make. Either force through a sale now, or tie the £100k-a-week forward down after the summer. He cannot be allowed to leave for free.
