Travis Kelce opens up about why he refused to take part in the new Netflix series

During the off-season, it’s time to try out new hobbies and take advantage of opportunities off the field.

Recently, the Kansas City Chiefs teamed up with Hallmark Channel to produce a Christmas film, which will be released in 2024.

The line between sport and entertainment is a fine one. Some say that the two are inseparable.

Many KC players and NFL players in general have made appearances in series, documentaries, adverts and so on.

Netflix’s new project

During the 2022 season, Netflix created a project and launched a series called Quarterbacks, which premiered last year.

Consisting of four episodes, the documentary series follows players Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins and Marcus Mariota on and off the field as the 2022 season unfolds.

The success was so great that Netflix decided to continue investing in the NFL, but this time in wide receivers.

Recording took place last season: Davante Adams, Justin Jefferson, George Kittle, Deebo Samuel and Amon-Ra St Brown starred in the series.

It will be available to watch on 10 July.

However, Chiefs star Travis Kelce was tipped to join the group of players filmed.

The reason behind Kelce’s rejection to join Receiver

Travis Kelce is a totally free spirit.

In the NFL, he does an absurd job and is already among the best in history in his position.

Off the field, he’s an artist (still a beginner), podcaster, presenter and a supportive boyfriend.

The tight end was invited by Netflix to star in the series Receiver, but the player declined.

On the Bussin’ With the Boys podcast, Kelce opened up about having rejected the streaming platform’s offer.

“After Pat did it, I did get asked about it. I don’t know. I’d rather just play ball, man. I’m already doing enough with the podcast and everything,” he admitted.

“I’m way over the reality sh__. I’m out on that sh__”

In the short term, Kelce is expected to present a spin-off of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? as well as appearing in Ryan Murphy’s new horror drama, Grotesquerie.

When he decides to retire, there will be plenty of opportunities for Mr Swift to show off his talents.
