Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs is mere weeks away from making his much-anticipated comeback after suffering an ACL tear last year. Though he mainly worked with the training staff during OTAs and minicamp, when training camp in Oxnard rolls around, he’ll be working his way back into the rotation.

On Wednesday, Diggs took to social media to remind opposing NFL offenses of how potent the Cowboys secondary is with him back in the lineup. Even without him in the lineup last season, Dallas still boasted the league leader in interceptions with DaRon Bland playing in his place opposite Stephon Gilmore.

“Me & my Bruddah got like 30 sum Ints,” Diggs tweeted. “Do what you want with that info.”

Losing Diggs to an ACL tear for ostensibly the entire season right after shelling out millions for his contract extension was a huge blow to the Cowboys moral. Even so, the team didn’t feel the loss as hard as it would have if they didn’t have a breakout star to take his place.

Bland, now heading into his third year in the league, ended up leading the NFL in interceptions and he also broke the record for pick-sixes in a single season. The team feels good enough about the combo of Diggs and Bland for 2024 that they opted not to re-sign Gilmore after his one-year stint.

Bland says Diggs’ return will be ‘something dangerous’

Despite the success he found in Diggs’ absence, Bland is over the moon to be getting his teammate back soon. The young corner gave an eye-popping quote about the recovering DB when asked what fans should expect from his return.

“I mean, a lot of people are not expecting what Tre is gonna come back with,” Bland said at the Reliant Energy Home Run Derby this spring. “I know what Tre is gonna come back with. It’s going to be something dangerous. Can’t wait.”

Diggs, 26, was off to a fast start before tearing his ACL last season. In two games, he came down with an interception and forced a fumble, leading the way for the Cowboys’ defense.

Before tearing his ACL, Diggs finalized a contract extension with Dallas that made him one of the highest-paid corners in the league. He signed a megadeal for five years and $97 million.

The former Alabama star led all NFL defenders with 17 interceptions from 2020-22. In 2022, he had a career-high 50 solo tackles and three interceptions. Diggs also took two of his 11 interceptions home for touchdowns.
