'Moved on': Arsenal decide they no longer want to sign 'really good' defender - journalist

Arsenal have been linked with a number of potential new signings heading into the summer.

Midfield options and new strikers have been the talk of the window, but the Gunners are also said to be keen on a new defender.

Indeed, Riccardo Calafiori continues to be linked with a move to Arsenal, while Nottingham Forest’s Murillo is a player the north London club have been said to be keen on.

Speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, Dean Jones has shared some insight into Arsenal’s interest in Murillo, and he says that Arsenal are no longer interested in the Forest star.

Arsenal no longer interested in Murillo

Jones shared what he knows about the defender.

“Yeah the pricetag is too high, but they may as well price him at that if it’s Chelsea that are interested,” Jones said.

“Arsenal did have an interest in Murillo last year, maybe even in January, but they have moved on from that so they will not be competing for Murillo anymore, but a really good player, so that will be interesting.”

Murillo will get a move

Murillo may not be on the move to Arsenal this summer, but the likelihood is that he will be on the move somewhere.

The Brazilian enjoyed a fantastic debut season for Nottingham Forest, and, as Jones says, some big clubs have had their eyes on the centre-back.

Of course, Murillo won’t be cheap, Forest are looking to receive around £50m for their star defender, and that is a lot of money for a defender who has had just one season in the Premier League for a team that shipped goals for fun last term.

Whether or not Murillo gets a move this summer remains to be seen, but, by the sounds of it, the 22-year-old’s next step won’t be to join Arsenal this summer.
