Tim Steidten must have stunning striker deal lined up as 27-year-old closes on Saudi move - view

West Ham director of football Tim Steidten must have a seriously exciting signing up his sleeve, with Youssef En-Nesyri apparently Saudi bound.

But who could the mystery man be?

Tim Steidten is working day and night to help set up West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui with the best squad possible heading into the new season.

Youssef En-Nesyri was there for the taking this summer, and he was apparently really keen to link up with Lopetegui at the London Stadium.

Surely the Hammers could have signed the 27-year-old, if Lopetegui wanted to bring him to the club.

However, it now seems like the talented Sevilla hitman could be set for a surprise switch to the Saudi Pro League.

Saudi club Al Qadsiah have allegedly made an approach to obtain the signature of long-term West Ham target En-Nesyri, and he could be signed for just £17 million this summer.

How have we allowed the chance to sign En-Nesyri just slip away? Or should the more pertinent question be, why?

What on earth is Steidten cooking at the London Stadium!?

Tim Steidten’s grand West Ham plan after Youssef En-Nesyri news

Let’s break this down. On paper, the Morocco international is the ideal man to lead the line for the Hammers.

He’s strong in the air, is always willing to run the channels to help create space for his teammates and is a very good finisher.

The Sevilla man possesses impressive pace and has everything needed to successfully spearhead the Hammers attack next season.

His hard work ethic and the fact that he has played under Lopetegui during the 57-year-old’s time in charge of Sevilla means that he would slot into the Spaniard’s system perfectly.

En-Nesyri playing in between Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus and just in front of Lucas Paqueta is an extremely exciting prospect.

His reported availability at around £17 million made the potential deal seem like a no-brainer for West Ham as well.

So why have we seemingly allowed Saudi club Al Qadsiah to swoop in to sign him pretty much unchallenged?

There must be a very good reason, surely…

Who’s the mystery man Steidten could bring to West Ham

Jonathan David is an elite centre-forward, and someone who is reportedly on the Hammers’ radar this summer.

The 24-year-old is absolutely electric, and if En-Nesyri would have been a good signing for us, the Canadian would be the dream addition.

David possesses blistering pace, I’m talking speed like we haven’t seen at West Ham for quite some time.

The Lille forward bagged an impressive 26 goals and nine assists in 47 games in all competitions for the Ligue 1 outfit last season.

He also has 27 goals in 50 international games for Canada to his name, and has a proven track record of producing the goods at the very highest level on a consistent basis.

His electric pace, exceptional movement and lethal finishing would take the Hammers to a whole new level as far as I’m concerned.

David would turn our attack from a very good one into an absolutely frightening unit.

I believe that Youssef En-Nesyri was there on a plate for Tim Steidten to bring to West Ham this summer.

And the mere fact that he’s Saudi bound tells me that the German has an incredibly signing lined up for the Hammers.

I’m just praying that that man is Jonathan David!
