‘Wasn’t the same’: Argentine media share what they noticed about Enzo Fernandez’s performance at Copa America

Only one Chelsea player remains at the Copa America after all of their representatives faced off last night.

Enzo Fernandez’s Argentina got the better of Ecuador on penalties, sending both Moises Caicedo and Kendry Paez home in the process.

Both had impressed greatly in their time at the tournament, and the former was clearly gutted at his elimination after the game.

The World Cup winner meanwhile found himself having to earn his place back in the side after starting the tournament from the bench.

While this has now happened, Argentine media were not too impressed with what they saw from the Chelsea man last night.

Argentine media not too impressed with Enzo Fernandez

Giving him a 6/10, TYCSports said: “Erratic as ever, but he was so close to the opponent’s area that he was the one who had the most chances in the first half. Even though he wasn’t the same as other nights, he demanded and fought.”

It remains to be seen just how big an impact Fernandez can have on the side next season.

It has already been claimed that new manager Enzo Maresca has a plan in place to get the best out of the Argentine, with it not being unfair to say some of their best football was played when he was on the treatment table.

At that time it was Caicedo paired with Conor Gallagher in the middle of the park, however there is now plenty of competition for roles ahead of next season.

Chelsea sign Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

The Blues have already signed Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall after his experience working with Maresca at Leicester City.

Romeo Lavia will also be hoping that he can have an injury-free campaign next season and compete for minutes. It has already been claimed that some at the club think he can play a big role for them next season if he can keep himself fit.
