The YouTuber and social media personality behind Pretty Pastel Please has sadly died at the age of 30, with fans reeling from the loss.
In the same way that many grew up idolizing musicians and movie stars, millions have grown up drawing inspiration from YouTubers ever since the site forever changed the landscape of entertainment. YouTubers can bring unmeasured comfort to their legions of fans with their content, whether they’re showing you a clothes haul or sharing advice. Pretty Pastel Please, whose real name was Alexandra, was an Australian creator who offered lots of versatility with her content. Alex has hours upon hours of videos to check out, but sadly, lots of fans will be watching in mourning now that she’s gone.
YouTuber Pretty Pastel Please dies ‘suddenly’
It was announced on the Pretty Pastel Instagram page on Friday, July 5th 2024, that Alexandra tragically passed away aged 30 earlier in May.
“We come to you today with a devastating announcement,” the post reads, accompanied by a smiling picture of Alex in memoriam. “It is with a heavy heart that we must inform you that Alex, known to many as Pretty Pastel Please, has passed away. Her passing was sudden, unexpected, and devastating to all who knew her.”
Although the cause of death wasn’t clarified, the post included that her passing was “a shock to us all, and her family and friends have requested privacy as they navigate their grief. We would ask that you respect their wishes – they appreciate all of your support but need time to heal in private.”
Fans can later expect a memorial to be shared on both Instagram and YouTube.
Building up an immense following across her YouTube career, Alex earned 691k subscribers on the platform with close to 300 videos uploaded. Her most popular—’I ONLY ATE FOOD FROM 7-ELEVEN IN JAPAN FOR A WEEK!!’—has hit over four million views.
She also had a big Instagram following, where she would share her wildlife photography.
Tributes memorialize her ‘bright and spirited energy’
Fans are sure to miss her videos with her much-adored pet parrot, Archie. Lots have chosen to offer their tributes in the comments section of the heartbreaking Instagram post. “Rest in peace, sweet girl,” one wrote. “We promise, the bird will always stay.”
“I’ve been watching her since I was just a teenager in school,” another commented. “… I could never begin to imagine the grief her loved ones feel. I’m so sorry.”
“Rest in peace, Alex,” a devastated follower wrote, praising her as “a joy to watch and follow these past years.”
A lot of fans say they’ve been chronicling her struggles with mental health in recent years: “Hopefully she is at peace now and not hurting.”
In one of the sweetest and most personal tributes of all, a fan said: “There’s a part of me that still doesn’t believe this is real… She always has such a bright and spirited energy, it would soothe me and I would often listen to her videos before sleeping. She made me want to wear color (I would always wear black before)… It’s strange to think just how much she impacted my life even though we hadn’t directly met.”
They signed off their tribute by adding they’ll continue to watch her videos, as many others surely will too. Her energy will radiate eternally, even in her absence.
