A video on TikTok shows an older Swiftie tearing up in the crowd on Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, making other fans sob in unison.
Taylor Swift is known for her range, and we’re not just talking about her music. Currently, on her World-famous record-breaking Eras Tour, we have seen a whole range of varied fans. Through countless celebrity audience appearances, we’ve been able to learn about Taylor’s reach. Who would have known that Tom Cruise was an avid Swiftie, keen enough to miss his daughter’s graduation? This show has had fans tearing up for a whole range of reasons, this time it’s over someone’s dad showing what a dedicated Swiftie he is.
‘Protect him at all costs’
A fan has uploaded a video of Swift’s performance in Dublin from the Eras Tour. As Tay-Tay finishes up singing Champagne Problems, the crowd goes predictably wild, and the camera pans to the user’s father stood next to her.
The video is titled, “POV: Your dad cries seeing everyone cheer for Taylor after Champagne Problems.” And yes, adorably, the Father-Swiftie is crying in the shot.
The camera pans back to the stage, before back to the dad, where his overwhelming joy is visible along with the tears in his eyes.
Fans have been getting emotional in the comments, “POV: I cried seeing your dad cry seeing everyone cheer for Taylor after Champagne Problems 🥺 🩵.” While another user comments, “Am I crying from champagne problems cheers or your sweet dad🥺”
Users have really taken to the gentlemen in question stating, “Alright, he’s our dad now 🥹😭.” While another says, “Your dad is a treasure!!! 🥹🩷 protect him at all costs. 🥰🤍”
Many are saying this touching moment is actually a reflection of the beautiful father-daughter bond between the two, commenting, “What’s cuter is this is actually a reflection simply of how much he loves you.” And, “That’s a man who knows what it’s like to be proud of his daughter.”
Taylor can’t stop bringing the crowd to tears
This isn’t the only performance that has had Swifties in tears, here’s a run-down of some of the other sentimental highlights from the UK and Ireland segment of the tour so far.
On opening the UK leg of her tour in Edinburgh, the Fortnight singer got to witness a very special moment by two audience members – a bride-to-be said yes to her partner in the crowd. Swift shared in the couple’s delight speaking from the stage, “I love performing this entire show in the sunlight, because I just saw someone get engaged.”
Tay likes to surprise her fans with songs not usually part of the set list. This segment has become one of the most eagerly awaited parts of the show. The 100th show in Liverpool has the singer playing two special mash-ups; the first was I Can See You / Mine and the second was Cornelia Street / Maroon. This had fans overwhelmed and shedding a tear for the moment. “Crying at Liverpool N1 getting I Can See You and Maroon because I LOVE both of them.” Tweeted one fan.
Also during her Liverpool show, it was a sweet security guard that had fans welling up rather than Swift herself. In a short clip posted online, captioned, “He got me teary-eyed”, the guard is seen swaying to All Too Well with a constant huge smile on his face.
Finally, on the theme of poignant parents, Tay’s own mother got the crowd crying in unison. During her moving performance of the song Marjorie at Wembley Stadium, Andrea is seen in the crowd holding up a photo of the singer’s late grandmother and visibly weeping. The song Marjorie was written in honor of Swift’s grandmother and even features her vocals on the track.
