Onuma Quasi-National Park

Located in the southern part of Hokkaido, Onuma Quasi-National Park provides visitors with a peaceful escape into nature’s embrace. The park is a favored destination for those seeking a retreat from urban life.

Onuma Quasi National Park is most famous for its picturesque landscapes featuring the towering volcanic Mount Komagatake and Onuma Lake. The park has numerous small islands scattered across Onuma Lake, that are beautiful no matter the season.

During spring, cherry blossom trees can be found along the shores, while summer brings lush greenery and vibrant flowers. As the leaves change color in autumn, the park becomes a photographer’s paradise as it transforms into a mosaic of reds, yellows and oranges. In winter, the entire lake freezes over and the snow-covered scenery provides a peaceful and ethereal atmosphere.

The Onuma Tourist Information Center offers daily guided nature tours for ¥4,000 per person. Bike rentals are available, and the park has an extensive network of paths and roads.

Onuma Lake itself provides a variety of seasonal activities. From early summer to fall, kayaking is available, allowing paddlers to experience the park’s beauty from the water. During winter, the frozen lake provides the perfect setting for ice skating, ice fishing and snowmobiling.
