3-star PG Casmir Chavis, former Washington signee, commits to Arkansas

Three-star prospect Casmir Chavis tells On3 he’s committed to John Calipari and Arkansas.

The 6-foot-2 point guard out of Park Center High School (MN) was originally signed with Washington, but was released from National Letter of Intent after former head coach Mike Hopkins was fired. Chavis originally chose the Huskies back in November over Georgia, Arizona State, and West Virginia.

According to On3’s Top-150 Player Rankings, Chavis is the No. 133 overall prospect in the 2024 cycle. He’s also the No. 19 point guard prospect and the No. 4 player in Minnesota.

Chavis on his decision to choose Arkansas

Casmir Chavis discussed his commitment to the Razorbacks with On3.

“I decided to choose Arkansas because the development I can get from the coaching staff is one of the best in the country and how good the community is towards the team. Plus the relationship we built made it better just getting to know each other. Coach Calipari has been able to get previous players in my position to the NBA so that’s why I ended up choosing Arkansas.”

Joining a strong recruiting class

John Calipari has assembled an elite recruiting class as he enters his first season in Fayettville, Arkansas.

Casmir Chavis is the latest player to commit to the Hogs. He joins three other freshmen — four-star PG Boogie Fland (No. 18 overall nationally), four-star SF Karter Knox (No. 22), and four-star SF Billy Richmond (No. 26).

Calipari is also bringing in a strong transfer group, headlined by DJ Wagner (9.9 PPG at Kentucky), Jonas Aidoo (11.4 PPG at Tennessee), Adou Thiero (7.2 PPG at Kentucky), Johnell Davis (18.2 PPG at Florida Atlantic), and Zvonimir Ivisic (5.5 PPG at Kentucky).
