DeAndre Yedlin can’t believe what has happened since surprise Inter Miami exit

Former Inter Miami captain DeAndre Yedlin has shared his disbelief over what has happened since his shock departure from the Herons earlier this year.

The USA international was surprisingly traded to FC Cincinnati at the start of the 2024 MLS season, with the deal completed in order for Inter Miami to hit roster requirements as well as to free up space to bring in Marcelo Weigandt on loan from Boca Juniors.

Having been captain of Inter Miami before Lionel Messi’s arrival, the departure was a surprise for many supporters, especially with Yedlin enjoying some good form since returning to MLS after nearly a decade in Europe.

And Yedlin has now shared what has surprised him most since joining Cincinnati.

Yedlin amazed how ‘perfect’ Cincinnati move has been since Inter Miami trade

Speaking to Cincinnati’s official website, the former Newcastle United defender shared just how much he and his family are loving their time with Cincinnati, with Yedlin hailing the move as ‘perfect’ for him.

With Cincinnati top of the Supporters’ Shield standings and Yedlin a regular for the Ohio franchise, it’s no real wonder why the 31-year-old defender is living life with his new team, even if it meant leaving Inter Miami.

Yedlin said on his move to Cincinnati: “I speak about Cincy and people that told me it’s such a family-oriented city and now I see why people are saying that. It’s almost like the city was built for kids. You see families and see kids everywhere, which is incredible.

“My daughter loves it. My son loves it. My wife loves it. Just the club in general. They care so much about the families, which I really appreciate because I’ve been in clubs that show no attention to the families. I didn’t know this was going to be the perfect move for me. And it was. It was a perfect move for me.”

Herons will be pleased to see Yedlin thriving at Cincinnati

Yedlin’s trade to Cincinnati was a surprise and out of the blue, with the former Inter Miami captain viewed going into this season as a key player for the Florida franchise and Tata Martino’s system.

However, the Herons and supporters will be pleased to see Yedlin thriving in Cincinnati, with the defender seemingly loving his new club and how easily his family found it to settle in Ohio.

Yedlin has found new love for the game since moving to Cincinnati, and with the West End Stadium side competing with Inter Miami for the Supporters’ Shield, the right-back will want to go all the way with the Herons in this thrilling title race.
