Tyler Adams suggests Liverpool have an attacker who's even better than Alejandro Garnacho

Liverpool and Manchester United share a very fierce rivalry.

The two historic English clubs have been more successful than everyone else in the country, and both of them have a number of exceptional players in their squad.

Liverpool and Manchester United fans will argue that all of their players are better than their counterparts. These debates are never-ending, and Bournemouth star Tyler Adams may have just sparked another one now.

The USA international midfielder has controversially picked one Liverpool player over a Manchester United star, who is a fan favourite at Old Trafford – Alejandro Garnacho.

He also made a few other claims that surprised us.

Tyler Adams suggests Darwin Nunez is better than Alejandro Garnacho

Darwin Nunez has been at Liverpool since the summer of 2022, and he has always divided opinion.

The former Benfica man has all the attributes you would want in a number nine. He’s quick, strong, has the ability to cause chaos in the box and is a handful for any defender.

Virgil van Dijk has publicly claimed that Nunez a nightmare to defend against, which tells you all you need to know about him.

However, Nunez misses way too many chances and that makes him a very frustrating player to watch, especially if he’s playing for your team.

The Liverpool star has missed over 50 big chances in the Premier League over the last two seasons, which is not a great look at all.

However, despite all the criticism, Adams believes Nunez is actually better than Manchester United and Argentina star Garnacho.

In a video on Goal USA, the USMNT midfielder played a game of Winner Stays On. When asked to choose between Nunez and Garnacho, he immediately named the Liverpool man.

If you’re a Manchester United fan who completely disagrees with the above opinion, let us tell you that Adams, in the same video, picked Christian Pulisic over stars like Rodrygo, Lautaro Martinez and Vinicius Jr.

Nunez vs Garnacho stats compared

It’s not completely fair to compare a striker to a wide player, but we’re going to do it anyway.

Nunez came under enormous criticism for some of his performances for Liverpool in the 2023/24 Premier League season.

Garnacho, on the other hand, earned plenty of praise and rightly so because he did produce a few magical moments under Erik ten Hag.

But, whose numbers were better?

Garnacho made 50 appearances for Manchester United in all competitions last season, 42 of those came from the start. He either played on the left wing or on the right and directly contributed to 15 goals – 10 goals and five assists.

Nunez, on the other hand, played 54 games for Liverpool in all competitions and started 33 of those fixtures. He played five times on the left flank but was deployed as the striker in all other games.

The Liverpool man finished the season with 18 goals and 13 assists. That’s 31 direct goal contributions in 33 starts which is a great return.

However, in the Premier League, Nunez missed a total of 27 big chances, while Garnacho only missed seven.

That doesn’t just show that the Manchester United man was less wasteful but also that he played for a team that didn’t create as many chances.
