Colorado became the biggest show in college football last year with the arrival of Deion Sanders. Now, that show is hitting the road as it moves on into the Big 12 in 2024.
Shedeur Sanders spoke about what he and his father’s program are bringing with them to their new league during a press conference at Big 12 Media Days. What they’ll add is obvious to him as the interest and viewership are going to remain no matter what conference they’re in.

“Excitement and views, for sure,” said Sanders. “That’s what you’re bringing there.”
That’s Sanders’ opinion because they saw the same thing happen, if it wasn’t more amplified, in coming from Jackson State to Colorado. At the end of the day, he knows that that’s just part of the package that comes with them year in and year out.
“We did it at Jackson so history repeats itself,” explained Sanders. “All it is, all we’re doing is living our lives year after year. It’s the same thing but it’s just more people watching.”
“You go out training? You’re doing almost the same thing, a couple different things but you’re progressing each and every year. You’re doing the same stuff,” Sanders said. “You go out there, throw a slant? A slant is always going to be a slant.”
The numbers are clear when it comes to the overall intrigue with Colorado. The Buffaloes routinely made Top-10s and higher for viewership ratings across last season in Coach Prime’s debut in Boulder. That was the case even though the Buffaloes put up an overall record of just 4-8, which was last in the Pac-12.
As Sanders also said in Las Vegas, that’s much of why he considers Colorado to be “everybody’s Super Bowl”.
Now, that act is coming over back in the Big 12. It could be well worth it too after the conference reportedly offered them $2.5 million to leave the Pac-12 in realignment.
The spotlight is nothing different for the Sanders’. All it does is follow them wherever they go and intensity with each story they produce as a family and team.
“It’s the same thing. It’s just a new location,” said Sanders.
Sanders claims Colorado is ‘everybody’s Super Bowl’
Shedeur Sanders made headlines at Big 12 Media Days when he claimed Colorado is “everybody’s Super Bowl.”
On the surface, it’s an intriguing statement from the Buffaloes’ quarterback. However, when you peel back the layers, it’s a fascinating situation for when teams play Colorado.
“(It has) been that since day one,” Sanders said. “I remember (my) first media day when I was in HBCU. I said we won’t lose a game. I’m undefeated in the SWAC so I already know what the expectation comes with. I know we’re everybody’s Super Bowl so I really just stay level-headed and grounded. I would never want to be that guy to look back and not able to take advantage of the moment we have right now.”
