Are you excited for the season to start for Kentucky basketball? You’re not the only one, certainly not after Jaxson Robinson‘s decision to withdraw from the draft and follow Mark Pope to Lexington. It was the guy we all wanted from the beginning, the ultimate big fish to go from feeling good to great about this roster from top to bottom.
Among the guys excited to see the Wildcats take the floor later this year? One of the guys set to play inside Rupp Arena himself, the best returning shooter in the nation coming from Dayton, Kobe Brea.
Following Robinson’s commitment, he took to social media to share his excitement about what’s to come in Lexington.
The goal? Bring banner No. 9 home to Kentucky.
“BBN!!! This is going to be scary,” Brea said, adding a few laughing emojis and closing with “#9.”
A fan responded, “Can the season start tomorrow?” leading the Kentucky sharpshooter to say what all of us are thinking.
“Wish it could start today,” he said.
Brea understands the assignment Mark Pope talked about when he took the job, never settling for anything less than banners in Lexington. That’s what fans demand and what they plan to bring together.
“As we go through this journey, we’re here to win banners in Nashville, because you guys turn out in Nashville like nobody else and that matters,” Pope said at his introductory press conference. “And we are here, our job here, our assignment is to go win banners in the Final Four, win national championships. That’s our job.”
Robinson will be joining in on the fun this season, expectations high he’ll be a key piece in Kentucky’s pursuit of championship No. 9.
