Steven Branscombe-USA TODAY Sports

Only eight teams remain in the NCAA baseball tournament, and it’s on to Omaha. The 2024 College World Series gets underway Friday, and the odds have officially been released.

Tennessee is the slight favorite to win the College World Series, according to FanDuel, with Texas A&M close behind. There’s sure to be plenty of action at Charles Schwab Field with the top four seeds still in the field. It’s also a big week for fans of the ACC and SEC, which are the last two conferences standing.

Tennessee – +240

Tennessee baseball

For the third time in four years, Tennessee is back in Omaha after defeating Evansville in the Knoxville Super Regional. This time, though, the Vols are the favorite.

Tony Vitello’s group had to play three games to punch its ticket to Omaha, and the Volunteers didn’t leave much room for doubt. Tennessee put up 12 runs on Evansville in the if-necessary game to seal a spot in the College World Series and will soon get things started against Florida State on Friday.

Texas A&M – +320

Texas A&M baseball

Tennessee isn’t a runaway favorite to win the national championship, though. Texas A&M is right behind the Volunteers at +320, meaning the Aggies have the second-shortest odds even though they’re the No. 3 seed.

Texas A&M is perfect through the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament, sweeping the Bryan-College Station regional and super regional. The Aggies secured their spot in the College World Series with a 15-9 victory over Oregon, fueled by five RBI from Kaeden Kent and four from Hayden Schott.

Kentucky – +450

Kentucky baseball

For the first time in program history, Kentucky is heading to the College World Series. The Wildcats avoided an if-necessary game against Oregon State in front of a raucous crowd in Lexington, and their journey continues this week.

UK is the No. 2 overall seed in the field, but at +450, has the third-best odds to win it all. The Bat Cats will play their first-ever CWS game Saturday afternoon against NC State.

North Carolina – +750

North Carolina baseball

It’s been six years since North Carolina last played a College World Series game. That will change Friday afternoon when the Tar Heels take on conference rival Virginia to kick things off in Omaha.

UNC played two nail-biters to win the Chapel Hill Super Regional, and the first game ended with a walk-off home run from star outfielder Vance Honeycutt. The second game was a pitchers’ duel, but the Tar Heels held on to defeat West Virginia to make their return to Omaha for the first time since Scott Forbes was an assistant.

Florida State – +900

Florida State baseball

It took Link Jarrett two years to get Florida State back to the College World Series. The Seminoles’ last trip to Omaha came in 2019 under the great Mike Martin, and one of his former players will now be in the dugout.

The Tallahassee Super Regional was a tale of two games for Florida State. In the opener, FSU cruised past UConn 24-4, but the second game went 12 innings before the Seminoles came away with the 10-8 victory to punch their ticket to the CWS.

Virginia – +1000

Virginia baseball

For the second straight year – and the third time in four seasons – Virginia will make its way to Omaha. The 12th-seeded Cavaliers have the sixth-best odds to win their second national championship under Brian O’Connor after two convincing victories over Kansas State.

UVA took a 5-4 lead into the ninth inning of Game 2 against K-State, but the Cavaliers sealed the deal in a big way. They scored five runs in the final frame to lock up the 10-4 win and head back to the College World Series.

NC State – +1100

NC State baseball

NC State pulled off a big-time upset in the Athens Super Regional, defeating No. 7 seed Georgia in the if-necessary game on Monday. That sent the Wolfpack to their fourth College World Series in program history and the second in four years.

NC State held a 1-0 lead in the Super Regional before Georgia got the 11-2 victory in Game 2 on Sunday. That set up a winner-take-all matchup in Game 3, and after winning 8-4, the Wolfpack will enter the CWS with +1100 odds to bring home a title.

Florida – +1500

Florida baseball

Rounding out the College World Series Field, Florida will look to continue its late-season surge. The Gators bounced back from an SEC Tournament loss to Vanderbilt with six wins over seven NCAA Tournament games and secured a spot in the CWS as a result.

UF won both games against Clemson in the Clemson Super Regional, but it wasn’t easy to complete the sweep. The second matchup went 13 innings before the Gators walked it off to get the 11-10 victory, and they enter Omaha with the longest odds to win it all.

The CWS format features two brackets in a double-elimination format starting Friday and Saturday. Then, the final two teams will square off in a best-of-three series starting June 22.
